about me

Hi, I’m Joss. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my photography. I love to shoot with natural light, creating bright and fun images of your wedding. Your day is so carefully thought out, every detail is important to you and your relationship, so I take great care making sure I capture everything from the big moments to the tiny intimate moments and all the details in between.

Tell us about yourself and your family

I’m a mum to two beautiful little people, Neve and Finley and a wife to a lovely man who literally lives and breathes Rugby and Oasis. I love Gin and tea but can’t decide which I love more (probably Gin!). Every week I torture myself with Spin classes then treat myself to Pilates to relax.

You haven’t lived in Northumberland long have you?

No, we moved to Morpeth in the North East in 2017 and have made a fabulous new life for ourselves. We love nothing more than packing up a “NicNic” (my daughters’ word for Picnic) and heading out to explore the countryside, another beautiful castle or coastline with camera in hand. It is a beautiful part of the country.

How did you get into photography?

My love for photography started at school and I went on to study this at University. During my studies I also gained experience by working as an assistant to other photographers.

You have done a fair bit of travelling, where have you been?

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to travel a lot. I currently work as an in-house photographer for a global lighting company and this has led me to photographing landscapes and architecture around Europe visiting France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway and Denmark and further afield in places like Dubai, Russia and China.

My year out took me to Canada for a ski season, and this also gave me the opportunity to explore the country in a campervan with friends which was one of the most incredible experiences. My husband loves travelling too and we have visited Zimbabwe, Las Vegas and Antigua together so far, and there are so many more places on our list!

So how did you get into Weddings?

Well I always said that the stress and pressure of photographing weddings would be too much for me, but I was persuaded by a good friend of mine to photograph her wedding – she asked me every day for nearly 2 months, I eventually gave in and said yes! I have never been so nervous BUT it was the most fantastic and rewarding day, I was hooked, this was back in 2011 and my love for photographing weddings is now a passion I just love everything about it!

Why is wedding photography so important to you?

Not many people know this about me, but I love nothing more than pulling out old photo albums or an old stash of black and white photos (or your phone history these days!) to reminisce or delve into someone else’s stories. I love how a photograph can pull your memory back to the day it was taken and help you to remember the tiniest of details.

Nothing does this better than a wedding album or photographs. The best photos make people talk about that moment from different perspectives, opening a flood gate of stories, memories and emotions from the day. It transports you back there again. I love that I can use my experience and my camera to give this to people.

What is your favourite bit about a wedding?

Oh wow, I love it all, I spend the whole day smiling and then smiling while I edit all the photos. The excitement and anticipation from everyone is infectious and It’s so amazing seeing family and friends come together at a wedding. I love being able to capture these moments and make them memories for them to treasure.

Do you have any advice for the Bride and Groom?

I know people always say this but “It is your day”, I love nothing more than fitting in around a bride and grooms plans because the best photos are of them enjoying their day the way they want it to be.
