“We both felt on top of the world…”
Karen and Alex had their hearts set on bringing together their family and friends, to celebrate their marriage, tuck into a delicious feast and to dance the night away – and they couldn’t think of a better place to do so than Shortflatt Tower! With exclusive use of the venue, which included a charming function room and a traditional tower, the couple were spoilt for choice on where to hold their nuptials. The venue is set amongst rolling fields and an ancient forest; it really was like capturing a fairytale love story – swoon!
The bride wore a fitted lace gown from I Do … Wedding Specialists accompanied with an individual veil that gracefully fell to the waist. The bridesmaids looked equally as enchanting in long green dresses from JJ’s House, all of which were subtly different, adding that unique touch to their aisle style. Karen opted to have a first look shot with her bridesmaids, and their reactions were unforgettable. With happy tears and big smiles, it’s always one of my favourite parts of any wedding day to document and to simply be a part of.
Holding their ceremony in the Woodland Function Room, I captured the look of excitement on the groom’s face as he patiently waited for his bride-to-be. Looking handsome in his navy tweed suit from Moss Bros, he accessorised with a dark green tie that worked wonderfully with the rest of their colour palette. Eucalyptus adorned the aisle, effortlessly highlighting their rustic-country theme, and as Karen made her way to her down the aisle, it was a heartfelt and memorable moment to photograph.
As the reception unfolded, I was able to sneak Karen and Alex off for a few intimate shots (not forgetting their adorable dog as a sidekick). The smiles on their faces and their look of love says it all – and it was impossible not to be caught up in the romance. With a beautifully manicured garden as a backdrop, I was able to capture plenty of shots as the couple were swept up in newlywed bliss.
As guests made their way to the reception room, it was clear the couple had put a lot of thought into their décor. The Flower Folk had stunningly styled the tables with floral centrepieces, featuring crystal glasses that were overflowing with fresh dusky pink and ivory blooms, eucalyptus and green foliage – they perfectly matched the bouquets from the day. Karen and Alex spoilt their guests with canapés, a three-course meal, a hog roast and a beautiful three-tier cake by Build a Bake (and let’s not forget the flowing of champagne too)!
Filled with elegant touches, including a magic mirror, wax melt favours and a DJ providing the tunes which led to all the guests sat on the floor doing ‘rock the boat’; their celebration was unforgettable and so much fun. Karen and Alex’s day was everything that a wedding should be – brimming with happiness, laughing and a whole lot of love.
