Coronavirus Lockdown 2020

Firstly, I hope you are all well and coping ok in these stressful and strange times. My heart goes out to all the families how have been affected by the virus and I take my hat off to all the NHS and frontline workers, YOU ARE AMAZING! I also send out love to those couples who have had to postpone their Weddings to later in the year or even to a 2021 Wedding. There is no doubt that these are very difficult months and so strange for everyone. I am personally finding it very hard not to be out taking photos and running my business as I was BUT we need to see the good in this lockdown and that means keeping ourselves and others safe. Stay Strong!

Planning A Wedding In Lockdown?

For many it is very quiet, maybe no commuting or even no work at the moment and you are finding yourself with lots of spare time on your hands? It is actually the ideal time to plan your upcoming wedding. Don’t feel guilty that you are doing this, suppliers WANT to hear from you! We want to be speaking to brides and grooms, we want to be seeing next year book up and feel the hope that things will get back to normal. Let’s keep the world moving and have something to look forward to! So let’s get planning….

Planning your 2021 Wedding

Firstly, you need a venue. This is going to be a little tricky at the moment because finding your venue is all about visiting, looking around and getting the right feeling about a place. However, you can still do your research and make contact with venues so that they have you in mind for a visit as soon as the lockdown rules lift. There are 93 wedding venues in Northumberland alone, Northumberland County Council have a fantastic list of civil ceremony venues on their website, it’s a great place to start looking.

2021 Wedding Themes

Once you have a good idea on a venue style or better still you have booked your venue, you can start to visualise your day. This is so exciting, are you finding that you have some colours in mind or a theme for the day? I love how each wedding I photograph is so different. This beautiful Mediterranean Style Wedding at Le Petit Chateau was so beautiful and elegant. Another beautiful but very different Wedding was this Festival Style Farm Wedding at The Barn on the Bay, still elegant but really reflected the couples personalities and love for music. I think a big theme for 2021 is going to be along the lines of informal gatherings. People will be craving family get togethers, I can see lots of long tables and really relaxed vibes.

Don’t be shy, we want to hear from you. I miss meeting, chatting and the infectious (possibly the wrong word to use at the moment!) excitement of newly engaged couples! Now is the time to get intouch. Where to start? I suggest finding your photographer (and videographer if you choose to have one) as soon as possible. Not just because that is my area of expertise but simply because the images (and video) of your day are what you will have to remember the day for years to come. These images are what you will look back on, they will bring back the emotion, the feelings and the excitement of your wedding everytime you see them. Have a look at my Facebook Reviews to see what people are saying after they receive their images!

Do your research. Ask your friends and family if they would recommend anyone, word of mouth is such a great place to start looking. If people have already had a great experience then this is a step in the right direction. With choosing a photographer, take the time to look at different styles. For example, my style is light and airy and this appeals to some people however other couples want something a little darker.

Have a look at a number of photographers websites, go through their gallery page and look at any real weddings they may have on their website. If you see an image that you really like make a note of it (or ” Pin It ” to your Pinterest page). This is how to narrow your selection down, then go back over your ideas and have a look at their Wedding Packages and even send them an email. Take the time to look at the suppliers websites and their social media pages like FaceBook and Instagram, follow them for a bit to get to know them and if you are enjoying their content then start to make contact. Start chatting with them and now is a great time to have a video call too.

I hope this all helps, remember this time is only temporary so lets keep planning so we have something to look forward to.

Stay safe, lots of love Joss x
