4th June 2017
A Slaughter Manor House wedding in the Cotswolds was always going to be a beautiful day, and I wasn’t disappointed. Cindy and Sven wanted a typically English feel to their day combined with English history. After visiting the Costwolds on holiday several times they knew this would be the perfect location for their wedding blessing and sand ceremony.
Cindy and Sven married in Germany in 2016 but decided to have a wedding blessing a year later to include their two daughters. They chose a “Blending of the Sands” ceremony which involved 4 vessels of coloured sand, each representing one of them and they took it in turns to pour the sand into a heart shaped bottle, creating layers of colour, blending their lives into one.
My day started a little differently with the grooms ‘first look’ moment rather than them meeting at the ceremony. Sven waited for Cindy at the bottom of the staircase at the Manor House and was completely blown away when he saw his bride walking towards him. Cindy wore a classic lace gown from Pronovias.
“At our legal wedding, I was pregnant with our second child and we only had a handful of family and friends with us. So, I looked everything but spectacular. For the blessing ceremony, I wanted to be a “real bride” and decided for a classic gown, which fitted perfectly.”
I then had the opportunity to photograph the bride and groom and their lovely daughters, around the grounds of the house and in Lower Slaughter village.
At 2pm the ceremony was held in the gardens of the house with their family and friends around them. The girls enjoyed the Sand Ceremony and the final piece looked beautiful.
After the ceremony, there were drinks and games on the lawn, the perfect chance for me to capture the guests congratulating the Bride and Groom before heading inside for afternoon tea and cake. While the adults relaxed around beautifully decorated tables the children played in The Little Top play tent.
“Because we have two little children and expected a few guests with their little ones, we wanted them to have fun. When the children are happy and busy, the parents can be relaxed and enjoy the party more. So, we found The Little Top who set-up a fantastic play area in both of our wedding locations (Manor House and at the Porch House).”
After tea at the Manor House the wedding party transferred to England’s Oldest Inn – The Porch House at Stow-on-the-Wold for a fantastic evening meal and party.
Cindy and Sven, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your special day, It was beautiful and perfectly decorated to reflect a typical English Garden Party.
I wish you and your little family all the happiness in the world together.

Kind words:
“Thank you so much for your superb work Joss. We love the photos and have gone through them all several times. Thank you so much again for everything – you captured our special day moment by moment and the emotions so beautifully. You also have a great eye for details and work so professionally that we often totally forgot there’s a camera. Thank you so much! Cindy and Sven xx”
